Error message: Index is out of date

Post by dedicated » Tue Jul 29, 2008 10:37 am

Started up my K&K program this morning to be told
"K&K could not open the current database in (location quoted). Reason: Index is out of date. Index: IdxFather.

I was then told to click if I wanted to start a new empty database in this folder, although some data may be lost.
I clicked (nothing would open otherwise) and the information I've spent days entering has gone!
Help.

Now that you have overwritten the data with an empty database, there is nothing you can do to recover the data.

If you get into a similar situation again, please use "Start | Programs | Kith and Kin Pro | Borland database fix utility" and rebuild the (in this case Family.db) table.

Why did it do this and what did it mean?

Is this likely to happen frequently?

This happens very rarely and the cause is unknown.

One possible cause is trying to edit too many records at once. You should make sure that you have clicked on the "Update" button in a family or person form before editing a different record or adding sources.
