Sourcing - question or suggestion?

Post by Richard Johnston » Wed Feb 14, 2007 7:15 pm

Hi Nick,

another question or suggestion...

I was just wondering how to source materials I recieved from my grandmother several years ago. They are hand-written documents that outline as much of her tree as she could remember. I would like to reference her and these documents for where I got this information on each person, but its very time consuming to make the source information so complete...is there a way to make several persons in a tree have the same source data or document in one fell swoop..or do I need to do it all one by one?

I read the help area, but it didn't indicate anything to this regard...or did I miss it?

thanks

Richard

Unfortunately there is no way of doing this in bulk - you would have to add a source reference to the document for each person.

For other types of updates it is possible to do a kind of bulk update using the Query results using the "Enable editing" button in the Query Window. But it will not help you in this case because you are actually adding records to the Sources table.
