unmarried parents again

Post by pamdavies » Mon Mar 13, 2006 11:45 am

I'd like to support the request for a way to indicate joint parentage outside marriage. I use the "indented tree" format to produce lists for various people, and the unmarried couples appear as "m.". As explained in the reply below I could put "Not married", so they'd appear as "m. Not married", which looks odd and perhaps judgemental.

Any chance of an enhancement to the system so that by ticking a "not married" box on the "family" screen I could get them to appear as "&" or "unm." rather than "m."?

This is going to be a more and more frequent problem for people who are keeping their family tree up to date - and it would also allow me to clarify the record for an illegitimate branch of the family where the partner involved was known and acknowledged!

Cheers

Pam

Seems like a good idea to me too Pam, maybe a default to married with an unmarried or common-law as an alternative choice check box
