"Cannot perform this operation on closed data set"
I'm using 2.12 under Win XP. I got the following error message when editing a source reference: Citation Table: Cannot perform this operation on closed data set. I got the same message whatever I did to close the source reference window - the program was stuck. I'm not sure if it's due to the new ve...

I am sure that the folder is gone, since I manually deleted it from 'Data' using Windows Explorer and checked that it was no longer showing. As I said, I also find that I can't use 'Change name' to rename 'Ancestors1' to anything else. I tried renaming it to 'Dummy', which I'm sure I've never used b...

I've downloaded V2.12 and this has restored the Delete function. However, I'm still not sure that it's working as it should. For example, I export a selection of families to a database called 'Ancestors'. I export another, updated, selection to 'Ancestors1'. Because I don't want to proliferate these...

V2.11- cannot find Database/Delete
Delete seems to be missing from my File/Database menu although the Help file says it should be there just like in V2.0. Also, before, when I manually deleted a database via Windows Explorer, it automatically disappeared from the list of databases available. In my installation of 2.11 the name of the...

Thanks for that. It's a relief to know that Pack/Fix can't generate errors. I naively imagined that the Pack command may cause the data to shuffle down and become misaligned! I certainly had some previous problems with the sources table which I had to put right with Pack/Fix, so possibly that's wher...

Migrating source references?
As I have been checking my source references, I've noticed that several seem to have become mis-associated. In particular, some 'birth' source references now appear to be linked to 'general' source references; in some cases they even seem to be linked to the wrong indivdual. This was fairly obvious ...

Working with Sources
I'm trying to organise better my references to Sources and Repositories which tended to be a bit haphazard when I started with KKPro. I can see how to search for and delete duplicate source entries, but in certain cases I would like to find and review those person/family records where a particular s...

I turned off 'Pictures' in 'Preview' but that didn't help. However, following on from that I unchecked all the boxes, tried 'Preview' which then worked! Then I added back the settings one at a time. All worked until I got to 'Sources'. I even managed to complete 'Preview' with everything checked exc...

I have 512 MB RAM and 11.2 GB free disc space, so I wouldn't have thought that I'm running out of resources. By the way, I tried running 'Preview' again. This time it seemed to get much further, up to family F256 but then seemed to stall without any error message. I then had another look at the data...

I looked inside the database folder and I couldn't find any files called 'Temp'. There is a collection of folders which appear to be empty with names such as 'CHUDQETU' plus some files with names like 'Aliases', 'Documents', 'Families', etc, but no 'Temp'. I assume it is some sort of temporary file ...

Family Details Report
I want to make a print a paper record of my database using the Family Details Report. I 'Select All' families and then choose to 'Preview' the Family Details Report. However, it stalls some time into the formatting of the preview with the error message 'Permission Denied FileC:\Program Files\Kith an...

Copying sources/repositories to new database
In KKPro 2.02, is there a way of copying the set of sources and repositories from an existing database to a new one?
