Picture Query Search & image output size
Hi Nick, When using the Query function to search on the Pictures database any record selected has the image output size set to 0.00 x 0.00. Closing then reopening the Pictures window from the Edit Person, or Edit Family window, shows the correct values for the picture size. If you make changes to th...

Hi Nick, More experimenting with the Windows border. The default in Windows 7 would appear to be four pixels. As the [Cascade open forms] pushes the first form out by the width of the border the Edit Person window looses four pixels over the edge of the screen. As the border width can be changed, th...

Windows 7 - Borders of windows & Cascade open forms
Hi Nick, If I maximize any window in Windows 7 the thin border running round the sides and bottom of a window are pushed off the edge of the screen. The same thing happens with Kith&KinPro. Selecting the command [Cascade open forms] aligns the first form so that its border lies outside the border of...

Hi Nick, Thanks for the quick reply. I have compared the two types of GEDCOM file and looked at the effect when imported into Legacy7. All notes imported into Legacy7 go into one file, I never realised that. It was then that I realised how useful the privacy level feature of individual notes is in K...

GEDCOM export
Hi Nick, The GEDCOM help file says:- "File: This is the normal setting and should be used for transferring data to any system not mentioned below. Kith and Kin Pro: Use this setting if the GEDCOM file will be imported back into Kith and Kin Pro. This allows the program to include special data which ...

Data location with multiple logical drives
Hi Nick, In answer to a second question under "Default UK timeline" about what directories must exist you replied on 27 May 2009:- "That's correct both "C:\KKPro3data" and "My Documents\KKPro" folders must exist." In preparation for Windows7 I have added multiple logical drives to my system. I would...

Hi Peter I have tried the 'display full names in family rectangles' on my database. Despite having more than 800 families setting then resetting the option puts all the family rectangles back to the size and position they previously were. I have even tried closing Kith&Kin Pro V3 between the set & r...

Hi all, Further to the first post in this section on 14 May to combine Families and Layers I have another permutation to add. If you need to use the Layer feature in the Query Family window you need to use the number of the layer not the name you have given the layer. The following mod. to the previ...

Hi Nick, I have upgraded to version 3.0.5 and retried the multiple text file object and it worked ok. There is a BUT however. Testing the various types of file that can be linked produces strange results. I realize that the list of available file types will depend on what software I have on my syste...

I have several children on my database who died young and do not appear on any census returns. As I am uncertain as to which family they belong to I have either, to assign them to a possible family, or leave them in limbo. My solution is to create a dummy family and add all the in limbo children wit...

The edit family icon does not allow you to select a family that is on another layer than the one opened. You can however use the search facility to select and edit these families. So it cannot be accessing the data that is the problem, it must be down to how the program tries to access the data. Too...
