Hi, To be honest, I'm not sure if I created them as links or embedded them in KKPro. Is there a way of telling from the Objects form? I'm fairly certain I would have embedded them in KKPro to make the database self-contained and independent of any reorganisation of my folder structure. The original ...

Well, I went to the Adobe website and downloaded and installed Adobe Reader X (apparently version 10, superseding 9). Now, when trying to create a PDF object, I see in the applications list Adobe Acrobat Reader. I click on that, the window goes lilac colour and everything freezes. After a while I ge...

I've now checked to see if I can create new PDF objects and I find that I get the same 'Device not ready' message. The procedure I use is to go into the Objects window, right click on the thumbnail window and get up the menu with only 'insert' highlighted. Clicking on that brings up a list of applic...

PDF Objects not accessible
I have associated PDF files as 'objects' with some person and family data forms. Recently these seem to have become inaccessible. I can see the thumbnail and the title when I open the 'Objects' window, but when I try to open the file, an error message pops up saying 'Device not ready'. Does anyone k...

Backup Options
Any suggestions for managing backup? I note that there is a backup option in KKPro3. I suppose that backs up individual databases whereas I usually copy the whole of the database folder onto an external HDD, keeping tbe last three versions. Works OK, provided I remember to copy the datafolder regula...

Hi Peter, Presumably you want something which shows up on every page for your copyright statement. Instead of pressing the return gif into service, couldn't you do something with the 'global footer' available on the 'export web pages' window? I've used the 'global header' to provide a common heading...

Since you know date of death, I suggest "Search", "Person" and then enter the date of death in the appropriate field (or as much of the date as you are certain of) - leave all other fields blank. This won't produce a complete list ordered by date of death as you requested, but I would think that the...

Visiting websites
I notice that if you edit a source document repository via 'Edit/Source document repository', the window you are presented with includes a 'Visit website' button against the box containing the website address. Is there any reason why a similar button could not be provided in the Repository section o...

Thanks for that. SQL Query does what I want and I can code the query using the setup table in the window - you can see how the AND and OR function in the query text changes as you select 'Match any field' or 'Match all fields'. I presume in the Search/Family window, the underlying SQL Query text for...

Search function
Search doesn't seem to work as I expect it to. For example I am trying to find a family relating to the death of a widow called say Jane Smith. I open the Search/ Family window and put 'smith' in the father's surname box and 'jane' in the mother's firstname box, and select 'match all fields'. The re...

Also running XP SP3, I found no difficulty with the download and installation - it worked just like with previous updates. By the way, I'm really pleased to see that V3.0.7 now supports the V2 feature that "Person and family selection lists now retain the selected record". I really found it very fru...

I don't think it is surprising that formatting should be lost by cutting and pasting text from one application to another e.g. from your KKPro datafield window to this forum or indeed to any other destination. If you really want to preserve format, then I would think one way to do it would be to cre...
