Thanks, Nick. I found the emails - I'd flagged them as important but then done nothing more - and have now installed current versions of both. Perhaps the web site could be made a bit clearer? The fact that there were patches offered from the earlier versions confused me! Anyway, all sorted now, tha...

reinstalling

Hallo, I've recently had to reinstall all my software. I've got the disk of K&Kpro 2.0, have installed it and the patches to get to 2.01 and 2.02, but can't see how to get any further: you say on the webpage that after 2.1 there's a link "Help | Check for updates" , but how do I get to 2.1, please? ...

I've tried using the Borland Database Fix Utility, going through each of the main files within my database (aliases.db etc), clicking on Verify, and it has found no problems.

I just wondered whether anyone - Nick or others - had any thoughts on this idea? Having just attended a family funeral at which I gave a couple of cousins printouts of our ancestral tree, I'd have like to be able to send the same info compactly as a text file (or tidied into Word) attachment to an e...

Thanks Nick... but only partial success. I did as you said, and K&K opened up OK, with the sample database. But when I tried to open my own database, I get an error message "Error opening K&Kpro database ...". That's when trying to open the database I was updating yesterday. I tried opening another ...

Help! Can't start K&K

Earlier today I opened up K&K, added a bit of data to update a record, closed it down. It's possible that I did something daft like switched off computer before K&K and everything else had closed down, but I don't remember doing so! Everything appeared to be working OK. Now, when I click on the K&K ...

No text appearing in XP

Since I upgraded my PC and reinstalled TreeDraw(3.01) and Kith&KinPro(2.00) to run on my new Windows XP setup, I've had no trouble with K&K but can't get any text to appear in my trees in TreeDraw. I can import a tree and get a correct-looking display of lines, but no names, places or dates. Help! A...

Thanks Nick. I use AVGFree, AdAware, UltraWinCleaner, and Windows Defender - so it could be one of those causing the problem?

Welcomed every time

Since I moved to Windows XP on a new machine and reinstalled K&K Pro, I get the "Welcome" help screen almost every time I start up the programme - as if it doesn't recognise that I've used it since installing it.

Any ideas how to prevent this?

horizontally tidy trees - a suggestion

In an Ascendant or Descendant tree, the generations get out of line with each other because various fields are sometimes missing - or, in the case of Ascendants, because the marriage date appears as part of the male's record. It would be great to have an option which would add blank lines where need...

indented ancestries?

Another request for an enhancement to the K&KPro system: it would be great to be able to produce an Ancestry tree in indented form, like the Descendants tree which can already be done that way - so useful to paste into an email or to print out as a compact copy for reference. Perhaps the generations...

Birthdate not appearing in family record

A woman in my tree has her date and place of birth entered in her "Person" record. But they do not appear alongside her name when she appears as "Mother" in the family record (while "Father"'s birth info is shown). If I do a "Select person", this woman's date and place of birth show OK, complete wit...

unmarried parents again

I'd like to support the request for a way to indicate joint parentage outside marriage. I use the "indented tree" format to produce lists for various people, and the unmarried couples appear as "m.". As explained in the reply below I could put "Not married", so they'd appear as "m. Not married", whi...
