Re: Positioning husband and wife side-by-side on a chart
Very easy. You may have to widen the chart to make space but all you need to do is select and move (drag & drop) the details of the wife to the desired position and then insert a new text box for the "=" sign where you want it.

Re: Make spouse appear alongside not underneath
I think TreeDraw always puts the spouse beneath (I can't remember any different in all the years I've used it) but it is then easy enough to move the details manually to wherever you want them (one of the big strengths of TreeDraw IMO). When I was printing charts professionally I made a great deal o...

Re: Resizing chart element
If you un-tick "Word Wrap" under the Format menu the text should remain in a single line.

(snip) I would therefore argue that an option in your program to allow same sex relationships is called for. Such a device strictly speaking does not violate Gedcom 5.5 as TreeDraw does not export Gedcom-files. On the other hand falsifying a person's sex og discarding the person altogether is clear...

Re: Error: Cannot open Clipboard
Graham, do mean that you can merge two lots of descendants electronically or by physically drawing them in on the chart? Having created the main descendant chart I normally group all elements and move the information to leave space in the top area where charts are brought in. I then create the seco...

(snip) What type of tree are you importing - descendant or ancestral? Ancestral trees will not show multiple marriages. I think that, also, with a descendant tree, multiple marriages of descendants will be shown but not multiple marriages of their spouses. The second wife of "male Lubbock predecess...

Hello Nick,
I have just tried to update to v3.2.5 and the update failed, returning the message Error:update installation.

Not sure what you mean by "ped" as TreeDraw imports either Descendant or Ancestor charts from the source file. I've only ever known a situation such as you describe to happen when, by mistake, I've asked for a descendant chart of someone on the file who only has ancestors recorded or an ancestor cha...

I don't know how geni.com works but I assume it is possible to export a Gedcom file. If that is the case then the information it contains can be read by TreeDraw. You may have to import & merge a number of ancestor/descendant trees but it is certainly possible to create a composite chart such as you...

I agree with Nick. I've been using BK since the DOS days and TreeDraw since version 1. One of the things I like about BK is that it is a lot more tolerant of non-standard data entries than other programs and one of the things I like about TreeDraw is that it is flexible enough to import non-standard...

You could try going back to a Restore Point set up before the problem with your hard disk happened. If that doesn't work I recommend contacting Freecom support and/or Microsoft support as the problem is likely to be connected with either Windows or the Freecom software. With USB storage devices it i...

Very strange and the only cause I can think of, other than genuine lack of space, is some sort of system glitch. I create composite charts all the time and have never had that problem. If it does happen again - hope it doesn't - you might try selecting all elements, copying, then create a new chart ...
