Re: TAG value out of range
I've actually managed to resolve this issue, which seemed to be related to a particular family in the database. Some KKPro operations on the descendants of this family resulted in errors as follows: Edit>Select families>Ancestors caused KKPro to close, whereas 'Show relationship' on individuals prod...

TAG value out of range
I recently tried to use the 'Show relationship' tool and KKPro came back with an error message "50888 is not a valid value for field 'TAG'. The allowed range is -32768 to 32767". Otherwise the software seems to be working normally. I've tried 'Pack' and 'Repair' on the database but that doesn't seem...

KKPro display disappeared
I get a blank screen where the display of interlinked families can usually be seen. The database still seems to be there and usable because I can export gedcoms and call up print reports. Should I try to reinstall KKPro?

Linking to Objects off C drive
Back in August 2021 I sought your help in setting a location off the C drive for my KKPro databases. I've managed to do that successfully. I now want to create another folder alongside the database folder to hold KKPro Objects (mainly pdf files in my case). However when I try to link to these files ...

Re: Storing data off C drive
Thanks for that, Nick. I have been archiving the KKPro Data folder from time to time to provide a backup. If I have the two storage locations, do I have to archive them both to provide full recovery of previous work?

Storing data off C drive
I recently reinvigorated my ageing computer by installing a SSD as the C drive. I have quite a lot of images and objects linked to my KKPro database but I would like to store them on one of hard discs in my machine and save the C drive for program data as much as possible. Is there a way I can safel...

Opening two instances of KKPro
If I inadvertently open two instances of KKPro by injudicious clicking, I find that I can work in one window but the other seems to be stuck in a loop 'Updating tree area display'. I can't close down the unwanted window except with Windows Task Manager or shutting down the PC. Is this the expected b...

Re: Windows 10
I finally decided to bite the bullet and do the upgrade and I am pleased and relieved to report that all the features of KKPro have continued to work as they did with my Windows 7 OS. Hopefully subsequent updates will not upset matters. I'm now running Windows 10 Home 64 bit operating system.

Re: Windows 10
It would be good to get a definitive answer from Spansoft on this. I'm being bombarded by Microsoft with offers of a free upgrade to Windows 10 (from Windows 7) and it would be good to know if my favourite genealogical program would continue to work after W10 installation. Targeted release date for ...

Re: Linking to text files
Thanks for the reply. When I bring up the 'insert object' window' I can see a range of OLE objects including Adobe Acrobat Document which I suppose is what I need. But I can see only two choices, Create New or Create from File and one tick box called Display as Icon. None of these seem to be the lin...

Linking to text files
Is it possible to link to external files other than jpegs in KKProV3? I seem to remember that earlier versions of KKPro allowed you to do this. What I would like to do is to link to a text file containing a transcription of a lease or a will for example which is saved as a pdf. I tried treating such...

Citations
I notice that some websites, like FreeBMD, are now suggesting a citation in the the form of a URL with which to refer to entries. When I record such a source I usually copy the details into the source reference field. However, I was wondering if it would be possible to provide a clickable link in th...

Right click sometimes doesn't work
I'm running KKPro 3.1.2 under Windows XP. I've noticed recently that sometimes when I am entering data and right-click in the Place field, to bring up a list of places recently used, the window doesn't appear. This behaviour persists until I exit and restart KKPro. I've also noticed something whichm...
