Linking to text files

Post by donne » Sun Nov 10, 2013 9:11 am

Is it possible to link to external files other than jpegs in KKProV3? I seem to remember that earlier versions of KKPro allowed you to do this. What I would like to do is to link to a text file containing a transcription of a lease or a will for example which is saved as a pdf. I tried treating such files as an 'Object' but that didn't seem to work.

Hi,
You can insert a link to a PDF file by using Objects http://kithkinpro.spansoft.org/manual/html/objects.php
If you set the "Link" tick box when inserting the object K&KPro will just store a link to the PDF file but if this box is left empty the PDF file will actually be stored in K&KPro.

Thanks for the reply. When I bring up the 'insert object' window' I can see a range of OLE objects including Adobe Acrobat Document which I suppose is what I need. But I can see only two choices, Create New or Create from File and one tick box called Display as Icon. None of these seem to be the link box you describe. What am I missing?

Hi,
When you select "Create from file" the "Link" box will appear.
