Accents on letters?

Post by Rodney Fry » Fri Sep 13, 2013 6:11 pm

I have just been given a new name from a cousin to insert in KKP v3.2.1 and subsequently import into TD v4.0. This surname has a French accent on an "e" and also an umlaut on another "e" in the Christian name. I have searched in help in KKP and TD and nothing came up?

It is not a critical problem that worries me unduly, but are accents hidden somewhere, Nick? I know in OpenOffice and WordPerfect I can access various special characters such as these, and put them in my text.

Perhaps it complicates the software for the occasional need?

Hi,

This is the standard Windows method for typing special characters:

If necessary, enable Num Lock (the light should be lit) on your keyboard by pressing the NumLock key.
While holding down the Alt key, type 0 followed by the decimal code for the ANSI character using the numeric keypad.
When you release the Alt key the ANSI character is added.

For example, to get ë use Alt+0235.

This link has the full set of ANSI characters: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 60%29.aspx
