Adoptions. How to enter and how to display?

Post by Lobro » Wed Jul 07, 2010 2:09 pm

At long last I am getting round to creating my Tree - but I have difficulties from the word GO. My sister is really my cousin. My father adopted her from his brother. Furthermore, my father was adopted by a remote uncle. I don't know how to enter these facts nor how they should or could be drawn on the Tree.

Hi,
If your sister is really your cousin she should not appear in your family. She should appear in the family of her biological parents. The fact of the adoption can be entered in her notes.
The same applies for your father - he should appear in the family of his biological parents.

Very logical when you think about it - but how can it show up in the family tree? In my case, that is where the real (financial) interest lies. A dotted line linking families in the tree could show just how fascinating my story is!
