Database converter error

Post by Terry King » Fri May 15, 2009 9:08 am

I have installed Kith & Kin Pro V3 and registered it. When I run the program I get the error message: "Failed to set data for 'DB_Path' ". When I try to run the database converter utility I get the error message that a fully registered version of Kith and King Pro V3 needs to be installed (it is). The converter dialogue box then appears but will not run. Kith and Kin Pro V2 is still installed and runs properly. What is wrong?

Hi,

It sounds like a premissions issue in the system registry. Which version of Windows are you using?

Please use "Start | Run | Regedit" to start the Registry Editor.

Navigate to the key "My computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SpanSoft\Kith and Kin Pro V3" and select that key.

Use "Edit | Permissions" and ensure that "Full control" is allowed for all users except "Restricted".

That should remove the block which is preventing K&KPro3 writing to the registry.

Thanks Nick, that fixed the problem with the program and with the database conversion utility.
