Alignment of siblings and cousins etc.

Post by FatFreddy » Thu Mar 02, 2006 5:11 pm

Is there any way in TreeDraw to ensure that all members of the same Generation will be drawn at the same level horizontally in a Descendancy Chart?

Since there can a be different number of lines for siblings (depending on whether a date of birth, date of death, etc. is known) their offspring can appear at different levels. I like to keep a Generation Number at the left of the page, but this requires a lot of work realigning the entire tree.

Thanks in advance
Freddy

No. TreeDraw automatically repositions data to make the best use of available space that it can.

Line up generations + Freehand Select

Nick, "best use of space" isn't best overall if it makes the chart unintelligable - PLEASE can we have Line Up Generations as an option?!! It'd save us an awful lot of work.

Sort of on the same topic, a "Freehand Select" mode would be very useful to enable selection of elements that aren't in a perfect rectangle. Also helpful if text box boundaries were somehow made evident during the process, to enable one to snake the pointer between them all (this'd be useful anyway, even in rectangle mode).

All the best
