MS User Account Warning Pop-up

Hi Nick,
Unlike Bordercot196 above I did a clean install and removed V3 first.
My concern is that my Microsoft Vista OS interrupts all my attempts to load TDR files with this UNIDENTIFIED PROGRAM warning which requires me to click ALLOW every time.
This didn't happen with V3 and it doesn't happen with K&N.

Files load OK after that but this is just an irritation having to click ALLOW every time.

Hi,

Are you getting this message when opening files from within TreeDraw or when you double-click on a .TDR file in Windows Explorer?

It should not be necessary to do this but try running TreeDraw by right-clicking on the TreeDraw icon on the desktop and choosing "Run as administrator".

Hi Nick,
Thanks for fast response.
First tried Double Click -- Tree Draw desktop icon. then tried Double Click TDR files.
And now tried Righ Click run as Administrator with same result.

Hi,

We have managed to reproduce this problem - apparently the TreeDraw.manifest file, which sets the security level of the program, is being ignored.

We will have a fix for this in a few days.

This may be of interest -- after GOOGLing around I found this unhelpful message and another more helpful one:
"There's no way to prevent that dialog box from appearing short of turning off UAC. Vista will nag you each and everytime you start that program even when you know it is not malicious."

Helpful message from www.ghacks.net was more helpful:

You can disable the User Account Control function completely which disables the complete security feature in Windows Vista. This has the advantage that you will not get prompted if you want to run or install programs that require admin privileges.

The second option would be to change the behavior in the Local Security Settings Microsoft Management Console. I will explain how to do both and start with the easier but more radical one: Disabling the User Account Control feature in Windows Vista.

Disabling User Account Control:
•Press Windows + R, enter msconfig and hit enter.
•Select the Tools tab
•Find Disable UAC / Disable UAP
•Click on Launch
•Restart the Computer
As I said earlier this is a very radical way. If you have the choice use the second method instead which leaves User Account Control enabled and tinkers just a bit with some settings of it.

Customizing User Account Control:
•Press Windows + R, enter secpol.msc and hit enter
•Click on Security Settings
•Local Policies
•Security Options
•double-click User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode
•choose Elevate without prompting
•click ok

I used the later and the Vista nagging has now stopped !
If you come up with another solution great.

Hi,

That's great - thanks for sharing. We turned off UAC in Vista and Win7 long ago

But we feel that we shouldn't force users to do the same so we will have a fix which works with UAC turned on.
