Wrong ID numbers in TreeDraw

Post by David Hitchin » Sun Dec 18, 2005 10:13 am

I have imported a file from Legacy into Treedraw version 3.02, with

The ID numbers printed on the tree are all 1 higher than shown in Legacy, i.e. person 1 is numbered 2 on the tree. Does anyone have any suggestions, please?

I have since created a very simple family tree, and taken care that the ID fields match the RINs. I ahve imported the file with field:

The import window shows the names matching with the RINs on the original file.

On the printed tree the printed ID fields seem to have very little relationship to the ID fields on the imported file.

As a follow-up to my previous message, further checking showed that there was very little relationship between the Legacy RINs and the Treedraw ID numbers.

The solution is to use the Options > Customise > Other in Legacy to fill the Legacy ID fields with copies of the RINs.

Then, when importing into Treedraw, set the first input field to

Neither Legacy nor Treedraw seem to fully explain their terminology, and I don't know what the input field is in Treedraw, nor why Treedraw seems to use the term 'UserRef' for Legacy's 'ID'.
