Missing scrollbars?

I seem to be missing the scrollbars in the Notes window on the Person/Family data forms. In V2, scrollbars appeared when the text was too large for it all to fit in the window. I know I can see all the text if I open the Edit window, but that's sometimes inconvenient, and it's not always obvious tha...

Most genealogical advice I've read on publishing is that data on living people should not be included without their permission. The opposite view is that all BMD data is available to the public anyway. My personal opinion is that I would want to avoid offending living relatives by unwanted publicati...

Just thought of another one:
Is it possible to have a more incremental zoom between 1 and 2? On my display, 1:1 is legible (of course), 1:2 generally is not. So zooming out generally is only useful to show tree layout.

I too like the family linkage representation of KKPro which suits my way of doing family history, but I would agree that ways of organising the space could be helpful when the number of families becomes large. I would endorse the features suggested by Nick and my own additional wish list is as follo...

I did some further research on the web and found some SQL tutorials and discovered the LIKE command which seems to do more or less what I want. Thus, WHERE (People.'Surname' LIKE D_N%) finds all surnames from DONNE to DUN. However, it also finds a lot uf unrelated surnames. What I really need is som...

Thank you. I can see that this would do the job. Presumably I would extend this to multiple aliases by adding them as: (Aliases.'Surname' = 'HUNTER1') OR (Aliases.'Surname' = 'HUNTER2') etc and the same for variants in the surname field. My problem is a surname which is appears in the records as DON...

Searching with aliases

Early records often have great variability in spelling surnames. I have recorded these variants as aliases in the person record. However, when searching, I only seem to have the option to search for one particular surname. Is there a way to search the KKPro database for surnames and all associated a...

Thanks for the tip about PDFCreator. I had found it mostly satisfactory, and of course it is free, but that isn't much good if doesn't work properly. I visited the Foxit site, but I was a bit suspicious about the terms of the free trial (Trialpay?). Instead I downloaded the evaluation version of PDF...

PDF Printer Drivers

I noticed back in January there was a topic which included a discussion of the use of third-party PDF printer drivers to print out tree reports from KKPro. I have one called PDFCreator which I find generally satisfactory for most tasks, and I have been trying to use it to print out a tree on custom-...

Thanks, Nick I decided to delete the unwanted family in this case after manually transferring the children not represented in the version of the family to be retained. I suppose I could have done this to start with, but normally I find the 'Remove duplicates' tool works well and is very useful in ti...

I rebuilt all the tables with the Fix utility, but the original problem still remains. I notice that I have different family numbers, F427 and F430 as it happens, but each containing the same parents P1704 and P1705. Could that be causing the problem? Maybe I should just delete the unwanted version ...

'Key violation' message

I get a key violation message when I try to use the 'remove duplicates, family' tool. The message occurs when I select the family to merge and then click delete. I've tried the usual fixes of 'pack' and run the 'Borland Fix' utility which reports no errors in the tables. What else can I do, please? ...

I too have been impressed with the facilities offered by Google Maps. However it is possible to link to Google Maps from KKPro. Google Maps can be marked up quite easily using KMZ or KML files and if these are inserted as objects attached to a person or family, they can open Google Maps to display t...

I've also been checking out other genealogy database software. I still find the KKPro graphic interface very useful, giving me an instant overview of family connections and, as yet unconnected families. However, as my researches have progressed, I appreciate the need to to record sources more fully,...

V2.12-"Change name" problem with Win XP

Nick,

At the end of a previous topic initiated by me, you acknowledged that File/Database/Change Name didn't seem to work when running KKPro V2.12 under Win XP. I was wondering if your investigations had revealed why this should be so, and when a bug fix will issued.
