There is a slight difference in the print preview pages and printed pages. This is due to rounding errors caused when Windows calculates the size of fonts due to the printer and screen resolutions being different.

You can import a tree quite easily using all the default settings. Use "File | Import | Descendant tree", select your Legacy family (.fdb) file, choose the root person and click OK. Naturally, there are loads of settings which you can use to change the appearance of imported trees, but the process o...

There is no reason why you can't export a PDF file direct from TreeDraw to a floppy disk unless the file is too big.

Try exporting it to your hard drive first and then copying the .PDF file to a floppy.

Your data should remain intact but it would be safer to backup everything in the "Of that Ilk Pro\Data\ folder.

I think you need to reinstall Of that Ilk.

Use "Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove programs" to uninstall IlkPro. Then delete the folder "C:\Program files\Common files\Borland Shared\BDE". Now reinstall Of that Ilk Pro.

Sorry, we don't do remote access to user's PCs.

This is indeed an invalid file name. Quote marks " are not permitted in Windows file names. An apostrophe might have been OK but personally I would avoid any punctuation in file names. To get IlkPro to work again, use "Start | Programs | Of that Ilk Pro | Database administrator", click on the "Kith_...

There are several reasons why IlkPro would be unable to create or rename a particular file such as DB.INI. These are all the usual operating system restrictions such as low disk space, file already exists, folder is read-only, etc. Only by checking for each of these conditions and corecting them wou...

You should copy it to the \Data\ folder not move it, so that IlkPro will still be able to open the old one. Having done that, in IlkPro use "File | Database | Open" and use the "Browse" button to look for the \Data\ folder and open the new copy of the database. Now you can delete the old database fr...

The database engine imposes a limit on the length of the full path to the database so the number of characters left for naming a database depends on the path to the folder where the database is stored. With all databases stored in the standard "C:\Program files\Kith and Kin Pro\Data" folder this lea...

You just need to relink Joseph to his real mother instead of his grandparents, like this... Open the family where he currently appears as a child, make a note of his P code, right-click on him in the children list and choose "Remove", then click the "Update" button for the family. Open the eldest da...

If you were previously using Kith and Kin Pro V1 then you do not need to run any of the conversion utilities - database conversion is automatic in K&KPro V2 when you open the database.

The conversion utilities are for the older Kith and Kin files.

Kith and Kin Pro is only at V2.02 If you get "Run-time error 202" it is because some fault in the folder structure on your PC is causing the initial scan to loop endlessly. You will have to run the conversion utility without the auto-scan and then add your .TRE files to the conversion list manually....
